On August 15th, 2015 Ralphs CEO Byron Allumbaugh annouced that construction of a new Ralph's supermarket would begin. The store was projected to be completed by October 13th, 2017. Unfortunetly, Mother Nature had other plans for them.
Construction was running pretty smoothly until November 14th, 2016. On that day, a thunderstorm struck the valley, causing major damage to the project as well as other buildings near the area. The total cost for the damages to the store totaled $1,750,000. The Senior vice president of Ralph's, Greg Singleton, had this to say on the matter:It is truly a shame that we would experiencing delay at this time but we will pull through this.
Completion of the store is now projected to be around March 29th, 2019, a whole year and a half longer than previously expected. Fortunetly however, this incident hasn't gone unnoticed by some of the locals, and are doing what they can to help out. One of the residents expressed the town's reasons to help:We just felt bad is all. We felt sympathy and wanted to lend a hand.
With the help of the town, perhaps constructon could speed up a little.
